Dr. Livia A. Guadagnoli
Livia earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in psychogastroenterology in September 2020. Throughout her PhD she received unique training as both an academic researcher, studying the impact of biopsychosocial factors on gastrointestinal symptom experience, and as a clinician, applying psychological interventions to treat patients with a variety of gastrointestinal disorders. Now a postdoctoral research fellow in the Laboratory for Brain Gut Axis Studies (LaBGAS), Livia continues to study the impact of cognitive-affective processes on gastrointestinal symptom perception through both clinical-translational and experimental approaches. She was recently awarded an FWO Postdoctoral Research Fellowship to experimentally evaluate bodily hypervigilance and its impact on visceral symptom perception.
