Dr. Marco Battaglia
Dr. Battaglia is a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, Canada and a Clinician Scientist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Toronto. His research interests fall broadly into developmental psychopathology and genetic epidemiology, mostly of anxiety and depressive disorders. He studies individuals, twins, and families from both general population and clinical samples by employing intermediate phenotypes (e.g.: ERPs, fMRI, respiratory measures, nocioception) that map specific physiological functions en route between liability factors and behaviour. Another area of interest relates to the gene-environment interplays and epigenetic modelling of early parental separation: how this common adversity impacts upon behavior, nociception and how it affects specific neurophysiological functions that are common to preclinical models and humans.
