Dr Niesters is a pain physician and performs important pain research in the Anesthesia & Pain Research Unit of the Leiden University Medical Center. She has published over 70 papers on several topics within the field of pain medicine. Her h-index is 22 which is regarded as extremely high for such a young faculty.
