Claudia M. Witt, MD, MBA is trained as medical doctor, epidemiologist and research methodologist. Being a full professor for Medicine at the University of Zurich she serves as the Director of the Institute for Complementary and Integrative Medicine at the University Hospital Zurich and Co-Director of the Digital Society Initiative of the University of Zurich. Her Institute is a Satellite of the Cochrane Complementary Medicine Field. Before she moved to Zurich, she was the Acting Director of the Institute for Social Medicine Epidemiology and Health Economics at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. She has a specific methodological expertise in pragmatic trials, Comparative Effectiveness Research and cost-effectiveness analyses for non-pharmacological interventions for chronic pain. Over the last 20 years she has conducted several large trials on acupuncture including over 50,000 patients with chronic pain.
