Professor Herta Flor
After receiving her doctorate in psychology at the University of Tübingen, Germany, Herta Flor has worked as a post-doctoral fellow at Yale University and as a visiting professor at the University of Pittsburgh. In 1995, she became Full Professor of Clinical Psychology at the Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany. Since 2000, she is scientific director of the Department of Clinical and Cognitive Neuroscience, Central Institute of Mental Health Mannheim and Full Professor of Neuropsychology and Clinical Psychology and at the Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg. Her research focuses on the role of neuronal plasticity, learning and memory in chronic pain, anxiety and mood disorders, substance abuse and neuropsychological rehabilitation. She has received several research awards and is the author of more than 400 scholarly papers. She is member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and Academia Europaea and holds an honorary doctorates of the Free University Amsterdam and Aalborg University.
