Professor Michele Curatolo
Michele Curatolo is professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Washington, Seattle, USA, endowed professor for medical education and research, and director of the interventional pain program. After receiving his M.D. at the University of Messina in Italy, he completed his Ph.D. at the University of Aalborg in Denmark. He has been the chief of the Division of Pain Therapy in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Therapy at the University of Bern, Switzerland, and interim chair of the department.
Michele Curatolo’s research focuses mainly on studying nociceptive processes in humans to improve the understanding of pain and facilitate the development and evaluation of treatments. His research has been supported by the Swiss Science National Foundation, and by the NIH. He has been awarded several prizes for his scientific work and a honorary doctorate at the University of Aalborg, Denmark.
