Clinical Evidence for Pharmacotherapy to Prevent Chronic Pain After Surgery and Acute Tissue Injury

Ian Gilron will continue this discussion by highlighting the rationale for pharmacological therapies to prevent chronic pain. This will be followed by a comprehensive review of randomized, controlled, clinical trials of specific drugs evaluating their impact on chronic pain after surgery and other acute traumatic injuries. Based upon review of available evidence, needs for future improvements to research and treatment in this area will be discussed.
