Clinical Research and Evidence for Non-Pharmacological Interventions to Prevent Transition to Chronic Pain

Michele Sterling will highlight the rationale for various non-pharmacological interventions that have been studied for their ability to prevent chronic pain after acute tissue injury. In addition to reviewing available evidence, challenges to the research and implementation of potentially preventive physical and cognitive therapies will be discussed. Finally, consideration will be given to the integration of pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies as a multimodal strategy to prevent transition to chronic pain.
