Dr. Christine Miaskowski

Dr. Christine Miaskowski is a Professor and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Physiological Nursing and Sharon A. Lamb Endowed Chair in Symptom Management Research in the School of Nursing at the University of California San Francisco. Dr. Miaskowski’s program of research focuses on the identification of demographic, clinical, and behavioral characteristics as well as molecular markers that place patients at highest risk for the development of the most deleterious symptoms that occur as a result of cancer and its treatment. With over 25 years of continuous NIH funding, Dr. Miaskowski has done intervention studies to improve cancer pain management, as well as longitudinal studies to characterize inter-individual variability in numerous symptoms experienced by cancer patients. Dr. Miaskowski has received Distinguished Researcher Award from Oncology Nursing Society, Distinguished Merit Award from International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care, and Wilbert Fordyce Clinical Investigator Award from American Pain Society.
