Dr. Raquel Lucas
PhD, MSc(Epi), PharmD
Dr. Lucas is a public health researcher who studies the epidemiology of musculoskeletal conditions, with a particular focus on musculoskeletal pain experiences in the community. She has coordinated several competitively-funded research projects using prospective cohort data to explore musculoskeletal health and disease in different stages of life, including in children and adolescents, as well as among young and older adults. She has experience in the design and analysis of large population-based studies, and is currently working on identifying musculoskeletal pain susceptibility profiles since childhood by bringing together population and clinical cohorts (funded by FOREUM). She has also had several collaborations with clinical rheumatology centers, namely on non-nociceptive pain in rheumatic conditions. So far, she has co-authored more than 85 full-text research papers and received an International Pediatric Research Foundation Early Career Investigator in Pediatric Research Award for a study on bone properties in the Generation XXI birth cohort study.
