Dr. Simon Beggs


Dr Simon Beggs is Associate Professor of Neurobiology of Paediatric Pain and lead for pre-clinical research in the UCL Paediatric Pain Research Group at the Institute of Child Health. He is internationally recognized in the field of pain research, specifically developmental neurobiology of pain and the role of neuroimmune interactions in pain chronicity. His research focus is on the interaction of immune components with the nervous system in normal somatosensory system development, and the long-term consequences of pain and injury in early postnatal life on subsequent pain and associated behaviours in later life, with a specific interest in sex differences.
