James C. Eisenach

Dr. Eisenach is a translational scientist, having directed a basic science pain laboratory coupled with clinical trials supported for over 35 years by the US National Institutes of Health. He trained at the California Institute of Technology (MS) and University of California, San Francisco (MD) and has been at Wake Forest School of Medicine since 1985. He is a past Editor-in-Chief of Anesthesiology and is the President of the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research. In 2015 he was elected to the US National Academy of Medicine. His research aims to identify ways to speed recovery from pain after injury, whether the injury is a battle wound in a soldier or surgery.
