Prof. Debbie Hay
PhD, FBPhS, FRSNZ
Professor Hay obtained her BSc(Hons) in pharmacology from Sheffield University, followed by her PhD from Imperial College London. She is a Fellow of the British Pharmacological Society (FBPhS) and a Fellow of the Royal Society Te Apārangi (FRSNZ). Research in her laboratory focuses on the molecular pharmacology of class B G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR), including those for calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP); these receptors are important targets for migraine. Debbie is an Editorial Board member of the British Journal of Pharmacology (2015-, Editor Performance Award 2016), Trends in Pharmacological Sciences (2021-), and is a Corresponding Member of the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology Committee on Receptor Nomenclature and Drug Classification (NC-IUPHAR), chairing its subcommittee on nomenclature of CGRP peptide family receptors. Debbie is a well-cited researcher (Clarivate, Highly Cited 2019, 2020) and has won many awards for research and teaching.
