The research focuses: Translational pain/itch research and pain biomarkers for pain/itch diagnostics, screening of new analgesics/antipruritics.
Published 1,189 journal papers (sum of times cited 42,692, H-index 98).
Has supervised and completed more than 60 Ph.D. students.
Been guest professor in Japan, Sweden, Italy, Switzerland, and USA.
Has served on the council of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), co-head of the IASP Global Year Against Musculoskeletal Pain 2010, co-head of the IASP Global Year Against Joint Pain 2016, co-founder of IASP’s Special Interest Group (SIG) on Musculoskeletal Pain, head of the IASP Grant Committee, Editor-in-Chief of IASP Press, co-chair COVID-19 task force, cio-chair the cannabis analgesia ask force.
President-Elect of IASP, IASP president from 2018-2020, and serve as IASP immediate past-president from 2020-2022.
Received more than 20 national and international honors and awards. Provided 2 key-note lectures at the IASP world congresses.
