Professor Matthieu Talagas
MD, PhD
Matthieu Talagas has been appointed Professor of histology in September 2021 at the University of Western Brittany (UBO), Brest, France. He has authored 54 publications in international peer reviewed journals (h-index: 16). He is both a researcher at the Laboratory on Interaction Epitheliums Neurons (LINK) directed by Pr Laurent Misery (UBO), and a pathologist at the Brest University Hospital, as well as a lecturer in histology and embryology rewarded with the 2018 PEPS prize for excellence in pedagogy, from the French Ministry of Higher Education, research and Innovation. He has demonstrated the existence of synaptic contacts between epidermal keratinocytes and sensory neurons, conceptually challenging a long standing dogma underlying somatosensation. To achieve these breaking results rewarded with the Charles Grupper prize in December 2021, he has established fruitful collaborations during his post-doctoral fellowship at the Tissue Engineering Laboratory (LOEX), Laval University, Québec, Canada in 2018-2019.
