Neuropathic Pain

• Dr. Nadine Attal will discuss the IASP Definition of NP, Diagnosis of NP using history (including NP questionnaires), physical examination, and laboratory testing, and the therapeutic Assessment of NP
• Dr. Jijun Xu will then discuss the current understanding of Molecular Pathophysiology and Mechanism of NP and the phenotype mechanism-based Pharmacological Therapies for NP
• Finally, Dr. Jianguo Cheng will discuss the state-of-the-art in Interventional and Neuromodulatory (Spinal cord stimulation, dorsal root ganglion stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation) Therapies for NP

My teaching course will cover the IASP definition of NP, detection and diagnosis of NP using history, NP questionnaires, physical examination, and laboratory testing, assessment of neuropathic pain with specific questionnaires and quantitative sensory testing, and their clinical relevance for therapeutic management.

Dr. Cheng will review state-of-the-art of neuropathic pain management with a special focus on the science and evidence of interventional and neuromodulatory approaches.
